On Sunday 18th August 2024, members of Blue Mountains concert Band and Mountains

Youth Band headed to the northern beaches for a wonderful day of music including a concert

and massed band enrichment activity, hosted by Northern Beaches Concert Band.

The combined mountains band performed items being prepared for the upcoming NSW State

Band Championships (A Heart to Treasure and The Brave) as well as a popular Australian

piece, Streets of Forbes.

After lunch many members of the band joined with other bands from the northern beaches

area for a performance workshop under the leadership of renowned conductor, James Brice.

Three pieces were showcased at the post-workshop concert, namely Toccata and Fugue,

Thrash, and Arabian Dances.

This was a great experience for all players, and everyone enjoyed meeting other musicians

and learning from Mr Brice. An important outcome of the day was that our band members

connected with a number of other concert bands in a collaborative enrichment activity. We

are very grateful for the volunteers who assisted in organising the event.
