A Heart to Treasure concert at St Finbars church, Glenbrook

Featuring the première performance by the band of an ode to the Blue Mountains, High Above the Sea

Blue Mountains Concert Band joins with Penrith Harmony

Blue Mountains Concert Band performed an entertaining concert with vocalists from Penrith Harmony acapella mens barbershop chorus on Sunday 9th March. The venue was St Finbar’s church in Glenbrook, a favoured performance location for the concert band with its wonderful acoustics.

The band performed a variety of items including music from Lawrence of Arabia, Largo from the New World Symphony, Celtic Ritual and Seagate Overture. Penrith Harmony entertained the audience with its repertoire of songs that included 76 Trombones; Chattanooga Choo Choo, Hallelujah, and others.

A highlight of the afternoon was the première performance by the band of an ode to the Blue Mountains, High Above the Sea. This piece was commissioned by the band to celebrate our 40th anniversary. It was written by Wesley Stormer, a former member of Mountains Youth Band and award-winning Blue Mountains composer. Wesley (pictured here at the concert with band president, Marion Chapman) was in the audience for the performance of his composition, which was met with great applause.

The band would like to thank the St Finbar’s concert committee for their ongoing support for our organisation; and Penrith Harmony for a great combined concert.
